A Message from Your Secretary-General

Dear Faculty Advisors and Prospective Delegates,

My name is Caitlyn Chen, and I have the honour of serving as the Secretary-General of SPAMUN 2024. On behalf of the Secretariat team, I am proud to welcome you to the 6th iteration of SPAMUN. It is our goal to create an unforgettable experience for all delegates, especially those of you who have just discovered the incredible world of MUN.  

Ever since the first iteration, SPAMUN has provided a platform for young leaders to explore their interest in diplomacy and public speaking, in addition to teaching them invaluable skills of critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving. These students will form invaluable bonds with other delegates and leave the conference with more confidence in their ability to succeed in Model United Nations. In October, we will see beginner delegates delivering their first speeches in SOCHUM, intermediate delegates bent over working papers in UNODC, passionate speakers in NATO and heated discussions in the FCC.  

The Secretariat team and I have tirelessly worked to make this upcoming iteration the best one thus far. Emphasizing the idea of creating a supportive learning environment for all delegates, we are committed to developing a MUN community that is welcoming and inclusive where delegates are participating, growing in confidence and becoming our leaders of tomorrow. 

At SPAMUN 2024, I encourage all delegates to push themselves and try something new, whether that is engaging in debate, challenging their own perspectives, forming new bonds, or working with someone new. Alongside the rest of the organizing team, I vow to do my best to ensure this conference is a rewarding experience for all.
